For patients who need dentures — whether a full set replacing all teeth in one arch, or a partial denture filling the gaps left by several missing teeth — the prospect of multiple clinic visits for impressions, fittings, and adjustments can feel overwhelming. This is especially true for elderly patients in Hyderabad, for whom a trip across the city is a genuine physical burden. The good news: the entire denture process, from the initial impressions to the final fit and adjustments, can be completed at your home. Here is exactly how.
What Types of Dentures Can Be Made and Fitted at Home?
Prudentoe can manage the full range of removable prostheses at home. Complete (full) dentures replace an entire arch of missing teeth — upper, lower, or both. Partial dentures replace several missing teeth in an arch where some natural teeth remain, using clasps to anchor to the surrounding teeth. Immediate dentures are fitted on the same day as extractions, acting as a healing plate while the gum heals and the permanent denture is made. Implant-retained overdentures — which clip onto dental implants for stability — can also be managed at home for the prosthetic component of treatment.
- Complete dentures — upper, lower, or both arches
- Partial dentures — acrylic or metal-framed (cobalt-chrome)
- Immediate dentures — placed the same day as extractions
- Implant-retained overdentures — denture component fitted at home
- Denture relines and adjustments for existing dentures
How Does the Denture Process Work at Home?
Making a denture involves several stages, each of which can be completed at your home in Hyderabad.
Appointment 1 — Primary impressions: The dentist takes initial impressions of your gum ridges using a stock tray and alginate impression material. These are used by the laboratory to fabricate custom impression trays.
Appointment 2 — Secondary (final) impressions: Using the custom trays, detailed impressions are taken that precisely capture the shape of your ridges. These are the impressions from which the denture base is made.
Appointment 3 — Bite registration and shade selection: Wax rims are used to record how your jaws relate to each other and the correct vertical height. The shade and size of the artificial teeth are chosen at this appointment.
Appointment 4 — Try-in: A wax trial denture is assessed in your mouth for fit, aesthetics, and bite before the final acrylic is processed.
Appointment 5 — Fit: The completed denture is delivered, adjusted as needed, and oral hygiene and care instructions are given.
For most patients, the number of appointments is four to five over three to six weeks, depending on the laboratory turnaround.
What About Adjustments After Fitting?
Some soreness after fitting a new denture is normal — the gum tissue needs time to adapt, and even a well-made denture usually requires one or two minor adjustments in the first few weeks. Pressure points that cause ulcers or rubbing are relieved by selectively trimming the denture base at the sore spot.
All adjustment appointments with Prudentoe are conducted at your home. You do not need to travel to a clinic every time a small relief is needed. For elderly patients in particular, this makes the entire denture process significantly less exhausting.
Who Is the Home Denture Service Most Suited For?
The home denture process is particularly valuable for elderly patients who find repeated clinic visits physically demanding; for patients with mobility limitations, wheelchair users, or those who are bedbound; for working professionals who cannot take repeated half-days away from work; and for patients with dental anxiety for whom repeated clinic visits are a significant source of stress.
We also frequently help patients whose existing dentures are no longer fitting well — bone resorption under the denture over time causes the fit to change, and a reline (adding new material to the denture base to restore the fit) can often be completed in a single home appointment.
How Much Does a Denture Cost in Hyderabad — at Home vs in a Clinic?
Denture costs in Hyderabad vary by material, the number of teeth being replaced, and the practice. Acrylic partial dentures start at ₹5,000–₹8,000 at budget clinics; metal-framed (cobalt-chrome) partial dentures at ₹12,000–₹20,000. Complete dentures (per arch) range from ₹10,000–₹15,000 at budget clinics to ₹30,000–₹45,000 at premium practices using high-impact acrylic and premium teeth.
Prudentoe's home denture service includes the same quality of impression-taking and laboratory work as a premium clinic, with the added value of every appointment being conducted at your home. Our pricing is discussed transparently during the consultation call before any commitment is made.
- Acrylic partial denture (home visit): from ₹7,000
- Metal-frame (cobalt-chrome) partial: from ₹14,000
- Complete denture per arch: from ₹14,000
- Denture reline (existing denture): from ₹3,500
- All adjustment appointments included at no extra charge
How Long Do Dentures Last?
A well-made denture typically lasts 5–8 years before replacement is needed. Over this time, the jaw ridge beneath the denture resorbs (shrinks), changing the fit. A reline — adding new material to the tissue surface of the denture — can restore fit and extend the denture's life by 2–3 years. After that, a new denture is usually the better investment.
Proper care extends denture life: clean with a denture brush and non-abrasive cleaner (not toothpaste — it scratches the acrylic), soak overnight in clean water or a denture solution, and handle over a folded towel or basin of water to prevent breakage if dropped.
Dentures do not have to mean a long series of inconvenient clinic visits.
