Expert wisdom tooth extractions — including impacted cases — at your home in Hyderabad.
Wisdom teeth (third molars) are the last teeth to emerge, typically between 17–25 years of age. Because the modern jaw often lacks sufficient space to accommodate these teeth, wisdom teeth frequently become impacted — partially or fully trapped within the bone. Impacted wisdom teeth cause pain, recurrent infections, damage to adjacent second molars, and cyst formation if left untreated.
Wisdom tooth removal is one of the most common oral surgical procedures. Simple wisdom tooth extractions involve fully erupted, upright teeth. Surgical extractions — the majority of cases — require an incision in the gum, controlled removal of the overlying bone, and sometimes sectioning the tooth into segments for safer removal.
Our dentists are experienced in managing all categories of wisdom tooth cases, including partially impacted teeth. The procedure is performed under effective local anaesthesia at your home, ensuring comfort throughout. We provide detailed aftercare support to ensure a smooth and speedy recovery.
Understanding the purpose behind your treatment helps you make confident, informed decisions about your oral health.
Partially erupted wisdom teeth create a flap of gum that traps food and bacteria — causing pericoronitis (gum infection) that recurs repeatedly until the tooth is removed. Extraction ends this cycle permanently.
An impacted wisdom tooth pressing against the root of the adjacent second molar causes bone loss, root resorption, and damage to a healthy tooth. Early removal prevents this irreversible damage.
Impacted wisdom teeth generate pressure, jaw ache, and referred headaches. Removing the impacted tooth resolves this chronic discomfort, which pain medication can only partially control.
Impacted wisdom teeth that remain in bone for years can develop into dentigerous cysts — fluid-filled sacs that destroy surrounding bone. Early removal prevents this serious complication.
Understanding who benefits most from this treatment — and who may need a different approach — helps you make a confident, informed decision about your care.
Pericoronitis — infection under the gum flap over a partially erupted wisdom tooth — recurs repeatedly until the tooth is removed. Extraction ends the cycle permanently.
An impacted wisdom tooth pressing against the second molar causes bone loss and root damage to that healthy tooth. Early removal prevents irreversible harm.
Pain, jaw ache, or swelling from a fully impacted wisdom tooth indicates removal, particularly when there is no prospect of natural eruption.
Removing impacted wisdom teeth between 17–25, before roots are fully formed, results in easier extractions, faster healing, and fewer complications compared to later removal.
Wisdom teeth can exert backward pressure on the dental arch that compromises orthodontic results. Removal before or during treatment protects long-term alignment.
If a wisdom tooth has erupted in correct alignment, has an opposing tooth, and can be cleaned properly, there is no clinical indication for routine removal.
In patients over 40, fully submerged wisdom teeth that are not causing problems carry higher surgical risk than the benefit of removal — monitoring is the appropriate approach.
Patients on anticoagulants, bisphosphonates, or with serious systemic conditions require medical clearance and sometimes a hospital setting for surgical extractions.
Every step is performed by BDS-certified dentists at your home in Hyderabad, with fully portable, sterilized clinic-grade equipment.
The dentist evaluates the position, angulation, and depth of the wisdom tooth. The type of impaction, expected complexity, and post-operative management are discussed before proceeding.
Comprehensive local anaesthesia is administered to block sensation in the entire lower jaw (for mandibular extractions) or the upper posterior area. You will feel pressure and vibration, but no pain.
For impacted wisdom teeth, a small incision exposes the tooth and the overlying bone. Bone is carefully removed using a dental handpiece to expose the crown of the wisdom tooth.
The wisdom tooth is either elevated and removed intact, or sectioned into pieces (crown-root split) for safer, more controlled removal in cases with complex root curvature or proximity to the nerve.
The surgical site is sutured, packed with gauze, and you receive detailed written aftercare instructions. Ice pack application, diet modifications, and prescribed medications manage swelling and discomfort. Sutures are removed at a home visit 7–10 days later.
Follow these guidelines after your treatment to ensure the best possible healing and long-term results.
Apply sustained, firm pressure with the gauze provided. This is essential for haemostasis. Replace gauze and continue if significant bleeding persists after 45 minutes.
Apply 20 minutes on, 20 minutes off, to minimise swelling. Swelling peaks at day 2–3 and then progressively improves over the following days.
Begin pain relief before the anaesthesia wears off. Complete the full antibiotic course and use any prescribed chlorhexidine mouthwash as directed.
Yoghurt, soups, mashed foods, and ice cream are appropriate. Avoid hard, crunchy, or spicy foods until the site has healed adequately.
Gently rinse (no forceful spitting) with warm salt water after meals from day 2. This keeps the socket clean without disturbing the healing clot.
A home visit is scheduled for suture removal and healing assessment. Do not attempt to remove stitches yourself — this appointment is an important part of recovery.
