Initial Impressions
Primary impressions are taken of your jaws to create custom trays for the next appointment. The dentist assesses your existing ridge, gum health, and discusses your expectations.
Final Impressions & Jaw Relationship
Precise final impressions are taken, and the relationship between your upper and lower jaws at the correct bite height is recorded. This information determines the position and height of the denture teeth.
Trial Denture (Wax Try-In)
A trial denture in wax is fitted to evaluate aesthetics, fit, bite, and speech. You and the dentist assess the tooth colour, shape, and arrangement. Adjustments are made before final fabrication.
Laboratory Fabrication
The dental laboratory processes the approved wax trial into the final acrylic denture with the selected teeth set in their precise positions.
Delivery & Adjustment Appointments
The finished denture is fitted and pressure points are identified and relieved. Multiple adjustment appointments are typically required over the first 2–4 weeks for a fully comfortable fit.
Aftercare for Dentures
Follow these guidelines after your treatment to ensure the best possible healing and long-term results.
Remove and Rinse After Every Meal
Remove dentures after eating, rinse to clear food particles, and replace them. This prevents odour and bacterial build-up under the prosthesis.
Brush Dentures Daily
Use a soft denture brush with non-abrasive denture paste — never regular toothpaste, which scratches acrylic and creates grooves where bacteria colonise.
Soak Overnight in Denture Cleanser
Most dentures must be kept moist to prevent warping. Soaking in a denture cleanser solution overnight also kills bacteria and removes deeper staining.
Handle with Care over a Soft Surface
Always clean dentures over a folded towel or basin of water — acrylic dentures crack or fracture on impact if dropped on a hard floor or basin.
Give Your Gums Daily Rest
Remove dentures for at least 6–8 hours each day (overnight is ideal) to allow gum tissue to recover and prevent irritation or pressure sores.
Attend Regular Check-Ups
Bone ridge changes over time affect denture fit and must be monitored. Regular assessments ensure your dentures remain comfortable and functional.
