For parents who have tried everything

Home is where dentistry stops being scary

If you have ever sat in a clinic waiting room while your child cried, refused to open their mouth, or hid under the chair, you already know the problem with paediatric dentistry: the setting itself is the trigger. Almost every aspect of a clinic, the smell, the chair, the masked stranger, the high-pitched drill, is calibrated to make a child anxious.

Prudentoe brings the dentist into the one place your child already feels safe. The same doctor, the same equipment, the same standard of care, in your living room. Most of our paediatric patients are seen on the sofa, in their own pyjamas, with a favourite toy nearby. We routinely complete examinations and treatments that were refused outright at a clinic.

Why home wins for children

The clinic was never built around the child

Six structural reasons paediatric dentistry works better at home.

Familiar surroundings, no clinical triggers

No unfamiliar smells, no waiting room, no masked strangers. Your child is in their own room, on their own sofa, with their own toys nearby.

A parent always present

You sit beside your child the entire time. We never ask parents to leave, your presence is the single most effective anxiety-reducer in paediatric dentistry.

Time to go at your child's pace

A clinic schedule forces 20-minute slots. At home we work in short, gentle blocks with breaks, snacks, and pauses, as long as it takes.

Behaviour-guidance trained doctors

Our paediatric-trained dentists use tell-show-do, distraction, and positive reinforcement, never force or restraint, never tears at the door.

Siblings can come along

Older siblings often want to be present, which helps reassure the younger child. We turn the visit into a shared, low-stakes event for the whole family.

No school day disrupted

Book a slot after school or on a weekend. No half-day off, no traffic, no missed classes, no rushed homework afterwards.

By age

What dental care looks like at each stage

Children's dental needs change dramatically every few years. Here is what we focus on at each life-stage.

01

6 months – 2 years

First tooth visit, oral hygiene basics for parents, feeding-bottle caries prevention, fluoride varnish if indicated, and a gentle examination of erupting teeth. The visit is mostly for the parents to learn the right brushing technique and diet guidance.

02

2 – 6 years

Full milk-dentition examination, plaque control, diet counselling, treatment of any early cavities with painless fillings, and fluoride applications. Behaviour-guidance becomes important, our doctors use playful language and reward systems to build positive associations.

03

6 – 12 years (mixed dentition)

The most active dental period, with milk teeth shedding and permanent teeth erupting. We provide sealants on newly-erupted molars, monitor bite development, manage any orthodontic concerns early, and treat sports-related dental trauma.

04

12 – 18 years (teens)

Wisdom tooth monitoring, orthodontic treatment (braces or aligners), management of acid erosion from soft drinks, sports-mouthguard fitting, and education about lifelong oral health habits as the teen takes ownership of their own dental care.

How a visit works

A paediatric home visit, end to end

01

Parent calls or WhatsApps us

Tell us your child's age, any past dental experience (especially anything that went badly), and the reason for the visit. We use this to brief the doctor before arrival.

02

Doctor arrives with a child-friendly setup

Portable equipment in a soft bag, not a scary case. The doctor introduces themselves to your child first, no whitecoat-and-mask entrance.

03

A tour, then a tooth-count

Your child gets to touch the mirror, hear the suction, count the doctor's teeth. No treatment until your child is comfortable, which usually takes 5-10 minutes.

04

Examination at your child's pace

Done with your child on your lap, on the sofa, or in their favourite chair. We pause every time they need a break. You stay beside them throughout.

05

Treatment plan, explained to both of you

Findings discussed in plain language, with you and your child together. Children handle treatment dramatically better when they understand what is happening.

06

A reward, and a follow-up plan

Every visit ends with a sticker or small reward and clear next steps for home care. Multi-visit treatment is scheduled at your family's convenience.

Parent always present

We never ask parents to leave the room. Your child sees you the entire visit.

No force, no restraint

Treatment proceeds only when your child is comfortable. We never force, hold down, or rush a child.

Same doctor, every visit

Trust takes time to build with a child. The same dentist returns for every follow-up.

FAQs

Common questions from parents

The Indian Dental Association and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry both recommend a first dental visit by age one, or within six months of the first tooth appearing. Early visits are short, friendly and educational, mostly about getting your child comfortable with a dentist, examining the bite and tooth development, and giving you a brushing and diet plan. The earlier we start, the easier every visit afterwards becomes.
